Sheriff Porg vs The Nessassin is a Year 19 low-budget Tresarian action movie written and directed by Fooj Iwajo.

Synopsis

As a child, Sheriff Porg loses his family to an attack by criminals led by the bandit warlord Nessassin Killovan. The bandits loot and destroy his hometown and he only escapes discovery by hiding inside a hollow dead tree. He narrowly escapes death by dehydration in the desert as he makes his way to the next nearest town, and upon arrival he vows to become a sheriff and avenge the deaths of his family members and the destruction of his hometown. Years later, Sheriff Porg hears rumors that the Killovan bandits have returned to the area, so he joins forces with another survivor of their vicious raids, and the two of them blast their way to a showdown with Nessassin herself.

Production

Development

The film was conceived as a low budget action movie to be shot by members of the Tresarian Navy during their downtime in Anzat system. This was the driving force behind many creative decisions, such as the choice to set the film on a desert planet.

Filming

Sheriff Porg vs The Nessassin was filmed in the deserts of Anzat. Off-duty navy members assisted in the construction of sets and acted as extras. Since there was not nearly enough money in the special effects budget to use a computer animated porg, the part of Sheriff Porg was played by a few different sentients dressed in a porg costume. The use of tall sentients in most other roles, oversized sets, and forced perspective created the illusion that Sheriff Porg was significantly smaller than the rest of the beings he encounters.

Release

Copies of Sheriff Porg vs The Nessassin were distributed to all of the navy members who helped produce the film. It was later released on video, but no effort was made to advertise to a wider audience.
